引数 -version を付けて起動する。

引数に -v を付けて起動して、「おかしいなー。なぜ起動しないんだ?」と思ったバカな自分でした。

# ./java -v
Unrecognized option: -v
Could not create the Java virtual machine. 

 つい、–version や -v を引数に付けてしまうクセができてしまっていました。うぅぅ。


単純に、java を起動すればオプションを説明してくれるんですね。

$ cd /usr/j2re1.4.2_06/bin/
$ ./java
Usage: java [-options] class [args...]
           (to execute a class)
   or  java [-options] -jar jarfile [args...]
           (to execute a jar file)

where options include:
    -client	  to select the "client" VM
    -server	  to select the "server" VM
    -hotspot	  is a synonym for the "client" VM  [deprecated]
